Spent at few hours around Agios Sozomenos, Nicosia and then Panagia Stazousa Valley. Some interesting winter birds around – three male Finsch’s Wheatear at Agios Sozomenos with many Western Black Redstart, Common Stonechat, Meadow Pipit and European Robin. The resident Spectacled Warbler were in song at several locations. A Eurasian Woodcock surprised me at Panagia Stazousa as it flew up the valley. Several male Cyprus Warbler were singing as were many European Robin. There were several flocks of at least a hundred birds comprising of Corn Bunting, European Serin, Common Chaffinch, European Goldfinch and Spanish Sparrow flying around the area.
